4:56PM - 2011 Retrospective
Again, just making sure the journal stays active.
In March, I was notified that my mother's Alzheimer's was in its final stages, and her death imminent. She passed away, peacefully, in May. I arranged for immediate cremation, so that her brothers and sister, none of whom live in the same part of the country, could attend a funeral and memorial service. After a Mass of Christian Burial, we committed her ashes (not scattering them) to the ocean in June. She had always been happiest when we had been vacationing at the seashore, and loved swimming.
I took some vacation time immediately following her funeral. I returned to my job to find that my program had lost its funding, and my job status was uncertain I bid on another position, at a higher job grade, and was able to obtain it. My new job started in September.
Meanwhile, I was leading contract negotiations at my place of employment. Those began in January 2011, and are still continuing. The less said about all that, the better.
My third published novel, a young adult vampire tale with a lesbian protagonist, is being published. The original publication date was December 31, 2011, and it did ship from the printer's warehouse by that date, being currently enroute to the publisher, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. However, officially publication date is listed as January 17.
All in all, a year of change and upheavel. I'm hoping for something less tumultuous this year.

6:16PM - Gah! What's with the spambots?
Since I've been posting my Dramione fic at Hawthorn & Vine, I haven't been back to check my IJ recently. Big mistake, I see, as the spambots are leaving all sorts of posts that have nothing to do with fic. I'll have to be more vigilant. Sadly, this reflects what I'm seeing on a lot of the older, inactive Yahoo groups: the only posts being made tend to be from spambots. I have my settings turned to web-only, but don't want to leave entirely because there are some older, well-loved fics on there that I can't find anyplace else. Sigh.
This post is mainly to keep my IJ account active. If you are following my Dramione fic, everything but my Hermione Big Bang is at Hawthorn & Vine. The HBB is at the HBB archive. I hope to eventually expand it and move it to H&V.
As to my Buffy fic...I wrote something for this year's IWRY marathon, which can be found at the IWRY archive. Otherwise, there's not going to be anything on that front for a while, as my novel is badly stalled, and I can't get back to fic until I un-stall it...a somewhat more daunting task than unINstalling...

7:14PM - Updates for my Dramione fic.
So, there is now a new Dramione fic archive, Hawthorn & Vine. I am going to be archiving my Dramione fics there, in future. They opened on Sunday, and I celebrated by updating The Persistence of Desire The chapters as posted at the archive have been tweaked a bit, with minor spelling and Britglish corrections. Not sure how soon I'll update here, so for the moment, the archive is going to have the best copies of my Dramione stuff. Only my Hermione Big Ban fic is not posted there (or here, for that matter). Yet. *G*

I honestly believe that, no matter how much I love, and my readers seem to love, Tender Vengeance it is The Persistence of Desire that represents my best work in the fandom. Judge for yourself. Well, seeing as I promised some folks I'd update with the other two WIP's that were archived at CG, and haven't had time to archive here, I thought I'd get around to doing that today. Turned out to be a tad harder than expected when I opened a file to find a lot of extraneous coding. (I upgraded to a new laptop last year and I'm working on a different Wordprossing program from the one on which the file was created, hence the problem.) So, I spent oh, four or five hours, fixing the coding and...discovered it was the wrong file. And that if I transferred the right file to a flash drive and switched to my husband's computer and opened it, it opened without the coding issue. ::headdeskx10squared::
At all odds, here is my first ever posted (but not first written) Dramione fic, a one-shot with three mutually exclusive epilogues. Note that everything posted after the cut, including the A.N., is from the time when the fic was originally written, and is not current. That said...( A Hero of the Wizarding World )

When I set out to post this fic, I made the horrifying discovery that all the versions I had were missing the last few paragraphs of the second chapter. ALL my copies and my back up copies. I have no idea how that happened. So, if anyone has a copy of the second chapter of the fic as is was posted to CG, please let me know. I'm going to post the second chapter with a temporary ending, but I'd really like to have the correct one. Any help would be appreciated.
